At Waterford Music Lessons, we understand that students can use a challenge to help them develop and focus on their goals. To this end,we're very excited tointroduceour first Waterford Music Lessons Student Recording Project. During the month of May, 2009, we invited interested students to choose their favorite piece to record. We worked with them all month to arrange and perfect their performances, to help them create and deliver a piece they could be proud of.

When the student was ready, we recorded his/her performance, either in our home studio or in their own home with our portable gear. We then compiled the performanceson toone cd, Waterford Music Lessons Student Pieces 2009, and gave each student their own copy to share and enjoy.

Some of the students wrote original music for the project, and we encouraged each to let their own artistic spirit shine (within the pesky limitations of tempo and meter!) as much as possible. In order to bring out the best in each student, we sometimes laid down backing tracks on bass or guitarfor the student to play against, and to fill out the sound of the track. It was my great personal delight to watch the students' faces as they heard themselves recorded for the first time!
