Julia & the Ready Boys were really pleased to be invited to play the inaugural Purcellville Music & Arts Festival.  Honestly, we thought we were going to play in the Bird Cage at the back of the field per usual, but we stroll in and there are the Darby Brothers, rocking like crazy and pounding it down from this huge, covered, festival stage!  “Um..we follow..them? .. up there?”  eep!

Our fab teleslinger, Tom Briner, couldn’t make this show so this trio shuffles up and tries to look big and act big and sound big.  Once we got going, it wasn’t so bad, and James the Sound Man gave me his awesome gold trophy Neumann mic  so I felt like a queen out of the gate.

We tumbled through our set list and still had time left!  Fortunately, our pal Deb Faro was in the crowd (crowd-let) and we brought her up to help us sing “High Southern Latitudes” and that surely helped fatten up our sound.  We wrapped up the set with a nippy “Kids Are Alright” and that was lots of fun!  Hope we get to do it again, next time with Tom!
