About Julia

Julia had always been fascinated by watching her dad sing and play guitar. There was excitement as the adults gathered round and joined in the singing. Old songs were remembered, harmonies rose to the ceiling, and hearts were set on fire. Memories were rekindled.

When she picked up her dad’s guitar to play some Beatle songs for the younger cr0wd, Julia was astounded by their enthusiastic appreciation. She found that she, too, could create the magic that encourages hearts to soar. Julia found herself in San Francisco’s thriving music scene in the early 90s and played in punk, new age, blues, honky tonk and rock bands. Songwriting came naturally to Julia, regardless of genre.

She learned from the pros – Bowie, the Beatles, the Carter Family, for example. Her songs are powerful and visceral, full of imagery and rocking chord changes. “High Southern Latitudes” and “Blue Veil” are absolute anthems, epic in scope and musically commanding.

Julia loves to watch people come to life in front of the stage. Strangers exchange grins as they enjoy the show. For Julia, the feeling of coming together with the audience is what performance is about. She always pushes a little further, going out on some thin ice to see what the music can take. This is exciting for her, the band, and the crowd.

Julia has inherited her dad’s beloved D-28. They are still making music together.

Smart songs written and delivered with a rocker’s heart, you can taste the dust from the back roads she takes you down here. A totally solid set..”.
